Steve Jobs Wanted To Turn Apple Into AT&T Killer Carrier Network

It’s not a secret anymore that Apple’s iOS devices owners in the big market of carriers face many issues on the daily basis, such as Apple’s contract of selling iPhone in the U.S causes many problems for the users who wish to use the handset. Numerous amounts of users were not happy for the AT&T restrictions and charging plans at the first hand. It reveals today that Steve Jobs the real person behind the Apple foresaw this situation, before launching the iPhone in the market. It appears that Jobs interested to build its own carrier network and destroy the AT&T monopoly in U.S.

According to the report, Steve Jobs and John Staton, the founder of Western Wireless Corporation had worked together for a long time to invent a technology that may allow Jobs to turn Apple into a carrier provider for its own iOS devices. Jobs and John worked to develop an unlicensed Wi-Fi spectrum to use it with the Apple’s revolutionary iPhone device.

Stanton, the chairman of venture capital firm Trilogy Partners, said he spent a fair amount of time with Jobs between 2005 and 2007. “He wanted to replace carriers,” Stanton said of Jobs, the Apple founder and CEO who died Oct. 5 after a battle with cancer. “He and I spent a lot of time talking about whether synthetically you could create a carrier using Wi-Fi spectrum. That was part of his vision.”

He said that after around 2007, Jobs gave up on the idea. But Jobs still managed to have a major impact on wireless operators, Stanton said.

If I were a carrier, I’d be concerned about the dramatic shift in power that occurred, he said

If you are the fan of Steve Jobs, you must have acknowledged that Jobs was one of the notorious people in Apple, who wishes to control the every aspect of its iOS devices under his thoughts, and develop many services to facilitate their users.
