This past Friday, the Chronic-Dev Team with the help of Pod2g and the Dream team released the Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1. After the release of the Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2, the website-greenpois0n.com server went down due to heavy load of users. The Untethered Jailbreak was released in a new tool/ modification of Greenpois0n called Absinthe. The initial release of Absinthe was on MAC OS X.

Everyone was waiting for this Untethered Jailbreak from past few months. It is quite strange that people were waiting for the Jailbreak still after Apple had introduced 200+ features in its new iOS 5.0. Most of the features were taken from the Jailbreak community. After the release of iOS 5, it was expected that most of the users won’t Jailbreak their iDevices due to the new features in iOS 5.

The expectations got drowned after the Absinthe tool was release for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 last Friday. The key member of the Chronic Dev-Team, P0sixninja told Cultofmac that Absinthe was downloaded more than a Million Times in just 24-hours after the initial release for MAC OS X Only on 20th January. The count is only for MAC users. The Windows build was release a day after the release of MAC. This is just the estimate of 24-hours excluding the total of Windows and MAC downloads and the downtime which affected a lot of people.

This is the second tool to get downloaded over one million times. The first tool was a web based Jailbreak called Jailbreakme.com made by Comex. The jailbreak by Comex was released on iOS 4.x.x for iPad 2 and iPhone 4 was downloaded about two million times after the release of it.

After seeing the great success of Absinthe, now we can say that Apple cannot stop people from Jailbreaking their iDevcies and even-if they add on many new features, Still people will Jailbreak their iDevices.
