Hey folks we recently posted that Redsn0w has been up dated to 0.9.6rc7 by which you can do a easy tethered boot on your jailbroken iDevices.Below is a complete guide on how to do it.
Create a FreakGeeks folder on your Desktop and in it place:
- RedSn0w 0.9.6rc7b
- iPhone 4 Firmware or iPhone3GS Firmware
Step 1: Create a folder called FreakGeeks on your desktop and put the required files in it.
When you have putted the required files which are Redsn0w and iPhone Firmware. Redsn0w will be in zip so unextract it using winrar.
Step 2: Press the Windows and R key then input cmd and click OK to launch the Command Prompt. [For Windows]
Launch Terminal from Applications:Utilities folder. [MAC]
Step 3: Input the following command for devices with the new bootrom:
This Command for iPhone4
%homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc7b\redsn0w.exe -j -i %homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\iPhone3,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw
This Command for iPhone3GS
%homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc7b\redsn0w.exe -j -i %homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw
Input the following command for devices with the old bootrom (iPod 2G, iPhone 3GS):
%homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc7b\redsn0w.exe -j -o -i %homepath%\Desktop\FreakGeeks\iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw
**Important: remember to change the filename to the filename of the ipsw you downloaded in Step One. we have told you with the changed name.
Step 4: RedSn0w will now open, instruct you on placing your iPhone into DFU mode if it isn’t already, and boot your device.
Step 5: Now you will be done and will have a tethered boot.
