Microsoft Admits They Revamped Windows Phone 7 Becuase Of iPhone

by Hamza Tariq - on Jan 10th 2012 - No Comments

Since the Microsoft has launched the Windows Phone 7 after the launch of Apple’s iPhone and iOS, the company has yet to make good in the market, as well as they have made the couple of big changes in the OS to attract the users, but failed to gain such market audience on their Windows Phone 7. After a lot of efforts, company today admitted that they have completely revamped their Windows Phone 7 OS because of the Apple’s iPhone fame, and tries to come up with something different in the market.

While interviewing with The New York Times, Microsoft’s Jim Belfiore admitted that Apple is one of the reasons, which forced Microsoft to come up with something authentic in the market. Jim Belfiore said in the interview that  Apple “created a sea change” with the launch of an iPhone in the smartphone world, and to compete with its old rival, Apple!

Windows Phone 7
According to the interview, Microsoft holds seven-hour long meeting with the Windows Phone OS team to find out the way to improve the Windows Phone 7 OS, the operating system with new features which we are seeing today.  The company has redesigned the Windows Phone, after the meeting with new features, but still failed to make most out of from the new features.

However, the company again failed to gain such market cap with the new designed Windows Phone 7 OS against Apple and Google, and finally joined with Nokia to introduce something new in the market to attract the users. Both Nokia and Microsoft have recently launched a new series of Windows Phone 7 powered phones in the market, and now looking forward to gain some market cap among the users. The main problem with Microsoft Windows Phone 7 is that they are trying to invent something new, while its rival Google and Apple are improving their old OS with the new researched features for their OS.

Microsoft Bribing To Use Windows Phone Over iPhones

by Hamza Tariq - on Jan 5th 2012 - No Comments

In the mobile tech market, everyone knows what goings on there and how customers liking the new gadgets with almost repeating features in different shapes. At the current moment, there are only two smartphone OSs are doing well in the market, one is known for its fresh ideas and second is up in the market with revised ideas in huge number devices, obviously talking about the iOS and Android. Besides these two OS’s there are also a new OS called Windows Phone 7 by Microsoft is available in the market, which is also said to be the good OS for smartphones but not getting any attention by users in the market.

However, the current market at the large scale only relies upon the iOS and Android. The other OSs are not getting heat from the users are their inventors are trying their best to advertise or bribe the staff to suggest these devices over the iPhones and Android Phones. In the case of Windows Phone 7, the OS is pretty cool and carries a cool tile based layout, which attracts the user to use it, as well as in the recent few weeks, we have seen the good response for the Windows Phone 7 in the market. While things going in the favor of Windows Phone 7 slowly, it appears that Microsoft has planned to spend a big money in bribing the staff of mobile retailers to suggest Windows Phone 7 over the iPhones and Android.

Microsoft has chosen the really awkward method to market their phones over the superior phones in the market, and already throwing a big money through paid checks to staff who suggests the Windows Phone 7 over iPhones and Androids. As reported by the Paul Thurrot, Microsoft has planned to spend a $200MM cash to bribe the retailer staff to promote the Windows Phone 7 devices among iPhones and Androids. He also claimed, Microsoft is already ready to pay store staff between $10 to $15 referral bonus for every successful sale of Windows Phone 7 devices. Yukk!!

Personally, I have used the Windows Phone device and loves the UI of the OS, as it comes with fresh ideas to the mobile industry, and also understands that Windows Phone 7 platform is not getting a lot attention by users.  Well, Microsoft is just trying to promote its WP7 with another method, without spending big money in digital advertising of the devices.

Microsoft Claims They Have Siri On Windows Phone 7 Over A Year

by Hamza Tariq - on Nov 24th 2011 - 1 Comment

Since the Apple has wrapped out his mysterious box and releases the iPhone 4S Siri last month, everyone has been actively talking about the Siri and its work. Especially, the iPhone rivals, it’s obvious that many other giant companies have already started their work to introduce their Siri like similar software on their products, but we have noticed that everyone has pointed the Siri with negative comments at first sight.

In the most-recent interview with Forbes, Microsoft’s chief strategy and research officer, Craig Mundie has claimed that they have Siri like assistant on their Windows Phone 7 since the launch, while during the talking about the “Kinect effects” and other future plans of the company’s business. Mundie totally shocks the tech word with his claim, in front of the audience that Microsoft has already baked Windows 7 with Siri like feature. Is anyone had seen? Well, no!

He says Apple has not invented the revolutionary technology in the Siri, instead they have done “good marketing” of the technology that everyone had in their products. He also embraces that Microsoft to learn a thing or two from Apple, how to market the product and revised technology in the new direction.

Mundie has pointed the voice commands system as the Siri of Windows Phone 7, we all know, not only Microsoft WP 7 has buggy voice command system, even Android and Nokia Phones as well supported this kind of voice commands in which users can say the phone to write a message or call a contact, but all the devices only recognize pre-defined commands and strictly limited to the core environment. In Windows Phone 7, voice command system does not even work perfectly, as we have learned from different WP7 reviews by different high ranked geeks.

Mundie has only pointed out the buggy software/feature of Windows Phone 7 in front of million readers, in short we can say that everyone has to learn from Microsoft, how to market the dead product in front of media.

After A Big Gap, Windows Marketplace Gets 30,000 Applications

by Absar Abdul Rahman - on Aug 28th 2011 - No Comments

What is a Windows Marketplace ?

We have the App Store for iOS by Apple, Android Market for Android devices by Google to get the applications for your beloved devices but where is Windows Phone 7 ? Well Windows Marketplace is the store for Windows Phone 7 to get the applications and it has just been 8 months when Marketplace was launched and after a year the geeks started to saw the developers working confidently for Marketplace and before 2 months ago the Windows Marketplace got 20,000 applications and just after a week it got 25,000 applications for Marketplace. According to WinRumors Marketplace today has reached almost 30,000 applications

Well today right after a month ago, after a long gap Windows Marketplace got 30,000 applications and more the applications more the consumers are attracted as Apple and Android is doing. It has been 10 months to reach till here and it has taken a lot of time for Windows Marketplace to fill up these many apps comparing to Google and Apple as Apple’s App Store did it in 8 months but Windows Marketplace in a sense has taken less time than Android Market because Android Market took 17 months to fill up with 30,000 applications. Below is the senses by WP7AppList

The total apps in Marketplace are 30,000 after 10 months, if we compare these statistics with Apples App Store, so Apple had 400,000 Apps in App Store/iTunes after a year of  iPhone 2G launch. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 was launched on 26th October 2010, it launched with 1,000 Apps in Marketplace and till now Marketplace has being  progressing very well compared to Android Market, but not App Store.

Previously Microsoft pushed out an update to its Windows Phone 7 with the name of NoDo and this update had some copy, paste applications with two more features, was first launched by AT&T which has been dismissed now and it also had a big problem rather an issue spreading these updates to all of the WP7 devices and it round about took 4 months get the NoDo update on all the WP7 devices but now in the fall except of iOS 5, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango will be released too and Microsoft has also started to accept the applications for Windows Marketplace to run on Mango.
