by Hamza Tariq - on Apr 26th 2012 - 2 Comments

The SIM of the iPhone gets locked at times and this is one of the common problems from which the iPhone users suffer. Various tools and techniques were used to unlock the iPhone, but almost of them proved to be a little complicated. With the updated SAM tool, unlocking the iPhone has become almost a child’s play now. Lots of research and investigations were going with the SAM tools and finally they have been brought to the public.

In the initial levels, the process of unlocking the iPhone and the instructions for the same were quite complicated and many users found it to be problematic. The team working on the SAM tools worked on that and made the tool easier and user-friendly as well. In the present situation, it is just a matter of few steps and the unlocking is complete. There is no need of iTunes or the SIM or the id of the SIM for unlocking.

Here is the complete procedure for unlocking your iPhone with SAM tools:

  • SAM is installed via Cydia. The Repo address is: http://repo.bingner.com
  • The unofficial SIM card is inserted.
  • SAMprefs is opened – then go to Utilities and then tap Attempt Activation.
  • If the process is successful then the device will surely respring. With that, the unofficial SIM card will also be identified and recognized.

However, it might happen that the process might not be successful. In that case follow some of the steps mentioned below:

Troubleshooting the device:

If a message is displayed that reads that you need to select the original and genuine carrier SIM Id of the iPhone or any other kinds of error messages show up, following the below steps might help:

  • The SIM card should be removed at the first place.
  • Open iFile and then go to /var/root/Library. Tap the edit button on the upper-right hand corner of the iPhone. Select Lockdown from there. Then tap the zip button so that a backup of the Lockdown is created. Do not forget to scroll down and check whether the backup zip was at all created or not. On confirming, the Lockdown folder can be deleted.
  • Go to /User/Library/Preferences and look for SAM. Now delete the file called com.bingner.sam.plist.
  • Completely power down the iPhone. After some time turn it on again.
  • The unofficial SIM card is inserted again.
  • Again open SAMprefs and go to Utilities. Tap Attempt Activation like before. A message will be displayed that the entire process will take some time to complete. After the completion, the iPhone will respring.
  • You will now be placed on the unofficial phone network of the SIM that is placed in your phone.

If you want the process to be successful, make sure that all the steps are followed in the same way as mentioned above. Do not skip any of the steps as that will not show the desired results. Unlock the iPhone successfully with the SAM tools through the easy process.

by Hamza Tariq - on Apr 10th 2012 - 1 Comment

We have already up with a detailed tutorial focusing on how to get your iPhone unlock from the AT&T through their new offer, of unlocking off-contract iPhones. However, we have received the couple of comments and emails from readers whom they have lost their jailbreak status, as in the end of the tutorial users have to restore their iPhones to the latest iOS firmware version, normally on the iOS 5.1, and as we know there is currently no untethered jailbreak exploit available to jailbreak devices over the latest firmware.

Many users may have been not aware of this fact, but losing a jailbreak at this moment is pretty dangerous for the potential jailbreak lovers, as Apple is kept updating its iOS firmware version with new security, and hackers are bound to hack it to bring jailbreak, and therefore, they immediately come up with a solution to fix the Apple’s and AT&T workaround against Jailbreakers. The key member of an iPhone Dev Team has just tweeted a little trick for the users, who are going to get the iPhone 4 / 3GS unlock from AT&T. The workaround of getting factory unlock iPhone on AT&T is pretty simple, and similar to the jailbreaking experience.

To Get Factory Unlock Your iPhone 4 / 3GS:

Step 1: First of all, you have to follow us our earlier described tutorial, but be-careful, as in an end, you have to skip the restoring process of the tutorial, and should continue from this tutorial.

Step 2: You need to have the latest Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 on your machine, download according to your device.

Step 3: Now launch Redsn0w on your machine, and connect your device with machine, simply follow all the steps, but after going through patching the Limera1n exploit on your device, you have to carefully select options to unlock your iPhone without restoring it.

Step 4: After patching limera1n exploit, Redsn0w will give you number of options, and ask you whether to install Cydia or not, and allows you to select different options. In the options list, you have to select the “Deactivate” to unlock your device, and moves ahead to next step.

Step 5: Once you have done with the Redsn0w deactivate hack on your iPhone, simply eject your SIM from tray and turn off your iPhone.

Step 6: Now, turn on your iPhone and connect it with iTunes and insert any other SIM in your iPhone and try your factory unlocked iPhone.

Just a week ago, we have reported you that someone in the market is finally coming the most awaited iPhone 4 4.11.08 baseband unlock for those users who are stuck on the latest iOS 5.x. We have reported you that R-SIM has claimed that they have at least discovered an exploit in the iOS 5.x basebands for the iPhone 4 to unlock the iPhone on iOS 5.0.1 / 5.1. However, we have also reported that they have claimed to be releasing their upcoming SIM interposer with the iPhone 4 Unlock in a week, but sadly, we have not seen any launch from the developers behind Rebel SIM.

However, a day ago they have released another update on their social handles like always, and claimed publicly this time that they have exploit, but they are failed to completely unlock iPhone 4 04.11.08 baseband on iOS 5, and their developers are required at least a week or two to complete the exploit for the public launch, and then they will launch it in public through their official Each Supplier reseller. No doubt, the team behind R-SIM is very active this time to launch the iPhone 4 “04.11.08” unlock in public, but due to Apple’s high security over the iPhone hardware prevent hackers to achieve their goal in real-time.

    UPDATE April 5th

Apparently it is not easy to unlock iphone 4 baseband 4.11.08, but at this time we have at least 50% to unlock the iphone 4, so we still need 1 week more or less to improve the program, and please stop sending email to us, just add our facebook page or twitter or keep an eye on our site, we will update the info once it is available,

Also it is not a April joker.

Well, according to our insights on the R-SIM IV iPhone 4 “04.11.08” Baseband unlock suggests us that their developers have just got hands on the exploit, but currently they are experiencing some compatibility and performance issues on the iPhone 4 devices, like users have experienced with the first generation Gevey SIM, which heats up users iPhone devices, and loses its grip over the phone.

On the other side, it is also rumored that Apple and AT&T is working closely to unlock all the off-contract iPhones, and the program is rumored to be starting from today. However, we have not heard anything yet from our readers regarding the new rumored AT&T unlock program for the iPhone 3GS / iPhone 4 (early) users.

Update: AT&T has just begun its off-contract iPhone unlocking process, and many users including the famous iPhone hacker Chpwn unlocked his iPhone on AT&T.

Apple has already seeded another iOS 5.1 with a brand-new iPhone 4 baseband update, but we have suggested users to keep away from the baseband updates if you are using locked iPhone, because the new baseband update comes with new hurdles and challenges for the baseband hackers. The new iOS 5.1 is no doubt comes up with new security over baseband chip, and as well as the hackers got hands-on iOS 5.0.1 baseband unlock, so it is useful to stay on iOS 5.0.1 and unlock your iPhone “04.11.08” baseband.

The folks over EachSupplier, the official supplier of R-SIM has just updated us over email conversation that their engineer at R-SIM lab is testing the final build of fourth-gen R-SIM with locked iPhone 4 devices, and the new SIM will shortly arrive in the market after testing it, scheduled to come in this week.

The new 04.11.08 iPhone 4 baseband arrived in public with the first public launch of the iOS 5 back in the end of last year, and until now, developers have yet to unlock the 04.11.08 baseband on iPhone 4.
