PlayStation Network (PSN) Is Successfully Restored And Back Online, But Only For Developers

by Hamza Tariq - on May 14th 2011 - 1 Comment

After ages now we got good news from Sony, after lot of attacks by hackers PSN is successfully again online by Sony, but only for you if you are a developer. We have heard this from many developers that PSN is restored for them and now working fine for it, but we are waiting for solid proof. So here we have, post from a member of NEOGAF – gaming and games industry forum. The user saying that many of developer told him that PSN is successfully restored for them but only for testing purpose.

Okay, so this was mentioned in the old thread by a QA tester and since then I have had other developers confirm to me that this is the case. The internal PSN developer network is online again, at least it seems for some, although things are still a bit shaky at the moment such as lack of new account sign up.

Looks like the full network, at least the online play/account part of it, will be back soon.

Well, this is really good news for users who are madly waiting for the PSN and as well as good for Sony, because after facing several attacks by hackers they successfully managed to restore their system atleast for developers. On the other side, Sony had already said before that they will restore PSN before the end of May.

Sony Got Permission to Access Geohot’s PayPal Records of Last 2 Years

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 18th 2011 - No Comments

The fight between Geohot and Sony on hacking Sony’s PlayStation 3 gets worse than before, recently Sony got permission to access the visitor log files of Geohot official website and now Sony got the permission to access the records of last 2 years, Geohot’s official PayPal account to check who supported him by donating money and to drag down every person in the lawsuit.

This means Sony can access anyone’s detail, who donated to the Geohot since 2009. This would be happen after Federal Magistrate Joseph Spero accepted Sony’s request for PayPal records. Wired point out the more details on it:

Regarding the PayPal account, Sony claims Hotz has accepted monetary donations for the hack from people residing in Northern California — an argument that, if true, might make San Francisco a proper venue for the litigation.

Currently, Geohot was sued by Sony two months ago on jailbreaking their gaming console PlayStation 3, and to make the jailbreaking tools available tool to the public. With aim of accessing its PayPal log, Sony wants to reach its supporters who support him

PS3 CPU Exploit Released to Jailbreak PS3 v3.56 Firmware by Darkhacker

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 7th 2011 - 1 Comment

It’s not being a long time that we reported that a new jailbreaking exploit found in the new firmware v3.56 of PS3 but not reveled because of the on-going crackdowns by Sony against the PS3 hackers. Today, Darkhacker – the administrator of PS3SDK has released the new PS3 CPU exploit, which he was holding it from a quite some time. The exploit is just released by Darkhacker but not actually discovered by him. The exploit is a hardware based memory glitch and quite similar to the geohot’s exploit which was released last year by Geohot, on which he was facing a lawsuit from Sony these days.

According to Darkhacker:

CPU Exploit – one step closer to METLDR this is a release of the hidden Cell Exploit found a while ago and one of the step taken to the metldr exploit im going to release the because i fell people should have the right to do as they wish and the information should be free to the public

i know by releasing this exploit ill probably be taken to court or sued but **** sony they can go to hell all i care for what there doing to us hackers ill fight until the last min i got of my life if i have to for the right of the people for this exploit your going need a leaked service pdf (not posted on PSGroove.com files can be found at source link below)

time to explain this now listen up

i know you all remember the exploit with ram and so on back in 3.15

well your going look for the ‘CELL RESET LINE’ and that going be where the exploit is

you know how the small 60ms or ns i dont remember thing sent to ps3 for the read and write of the ram ?

well use line send that and connect it to the cell reset line. ( FIND IT IN DOC ) and ground on outside of case and the example of what can be done with this is a cold reset which still has acess to the memory from gameos – dont let this die out people im taking a big risk by giving you all this information

Example of what can be done with this –

untouched memory on cold boot full access to lv2 and all game os memory.

New PS3 v3.56 Jailbreak Exploit Found By Mathieu Hervais

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 7th 2011 - 1 Comment

Many of us already lose their hope on reading that the geohot, the intelligent Hacker behind the PS3 Metldr keys and the iPhone jailbreaker got sued by Sony. Geohot was used by Sony for jailbreaking their console on its firmware 3.55, currently there is no jailbreak tool which jailbreaks the PS3 new firmware 3.56. But there are some tools like 3.56 firmware spoofer, which help us in preventing the accidental upgrades from jailbroken firmware 3.55, but still don’t allow PSN access.

Mathieu Hervais, an another hacker which claims that he found an exploit on the new PS3 firmware 3.56+ which allows us to exploit metldr keys again, but the hacker fully refused that he will never release the exploit to the public, due to ongoing crackdowns by Sony against the PS3 hackers by filling lawsuits against the hackers. Recently, we reported that Sony granted to access the visitors logs of geohot.com official web of George Hotz, and to acquire the IP’s of visitors.

Here is what the hacker posted over his twitter account:

I hesitated a lot before tweeting about it, but a bug allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and 3.56+. I don’t intent to ever unveil it.

GeoHot Replied to Sony With A Rap

by Daudi - on Feb 13th 2011 - 1 Comment

Hey folks you all must know GeoHot. The person who first Jailbreaked iPhone2G and then he was seen PWNING Sony Playstation3. Then he got sued by Sony.

Now he replies to Sony EUA with a wonderful RAP.Below you can see the Lyrics and the video.

Yo it’s geohot

And for those who don’t know

I’m getting sued by Sony

Let’s take this out of the courtroom and into the streets
I’m a beast, at the least, you’ll face me in the northeast
Get my ire up, light my fire
I’ll go harder then Eminem went at Mariah
Call me a liar
Pound me in the ass with no lube, chafing
You’re fucking with the dude who got the keys to your safe and
Those that can’t do bring suits
Cry to your Uncle Sam to settle disputes
Thought you’d tackle this with a little more tact
But then again fudgepackers, I don’t know Jack

I shed a tear everytime I think of Lik Sang
But shit man, they’re a corporation
And I’m a personification of freedom for all
You fill dockets, like thats a concept foreign to y’all
While lawyers muddy water and TROs stall
Out of business is jail for me
And you’re suing me civilly

Exhibit this in the courtroom
Go on, do it, I dare you
