Microsoft Prevents Employees From Purchasing New iPad

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 21st 2012 - No Comments

Apple has just done with its user with the launch of new-generation iPad tablet in the market, and the device is just about to start reaching the user’s hand, but it appears that Apple’s rivals are not in a good mood to adopt these tablets as primary working devices. The software giant, Microsoft is reportedly banned its employees to purchase the new iPad with the Microsoft’s company fund for the employees. It seems that Microsoft is about to start a new fight with Apple, and want the Cupertino Company to go evil against its smaller range Windows Phone devices.

According to a report by ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, a new policy is introduced inside the company by Microsoft’s Sales, Marketing, Services, IT, & Operations Group (SMSG), which actively sent an internal private email to employees within a specific group of employees informing that the company has banned them on the purchases of the new iPad. Microsoft clearly knows that its employees are also the big fans of the new-generation Apple’s iPad, and they have pre-planned the email, and sent it two days before the launch of the device in the country.

Through the reports, we come to know that Microsoft nearly hasaround 46,000 employees inside the SMSG group, and it doesn’t mean that Microsoft with these numbers can harm the new iPad sales, as the new iPad is already making big booms around the community.  Apple already shipped 55 million iPads in the last year, and this year is reportedly to be delivering the same amount of iPad units. However, it is the email message that Microsoft sent to its employees:

Subject: Apple Purchases

Within SMSG we are putting in place a new policy that says that Apple products (Mac & iPad) should not be purchased with company funds.

In the US we will be turning off the Apple products from the Zones Catalog next week, which is the standard purchasing mechanism for these products.

Outside of the US — we will work with your finance and procurement teams to send the right message and put the right processes in place.

The current purchase levels are low, however we recognize there will be a bit of transition work associated with this. Details of historical purchases in the US are provided in the attachment to help understand the changes that will be needed.Thank you for your support and leadership on this.

For me, it simply goes above the head, why someone would attempt something like this. It clearly shows that software giant admitted that iPad is superior than their whole business, and therefore, they started preventing the users from purchasing the new iPad units.

Smartphone Maker Goes Against Apple On Nano-SIM Card Design

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 21st 2012 - No Comments

Apple already dropped the old generation Mini-SIM cards from its iOS device series, back in 2009 during designing the iPhone 4, and adopted the smaller Micro-SIM cards to achieve more space on the device, and fill up with other hardware chips without expanding the size of the device. The new smaller in Mini-SIM cards work exactly similar to the old-generation Micro-SIM cards, and produce same results but uses less space in the device. Apple ditched the Micro-SIMs to improve their iPhone design, and after the iPhone 4 release Apple equipped every other GSM with Mini-SIM cards.

However, in the last summer Apple again reveals its thoughts and ideas about the new slimmer SIM cards, even slimmer than Mini-SIM cards named Nano-SIM cards to use them in its upcoming devices and want to regulators to approve the design and idea of the SIM cards. However, it appears that the fellow tech company in the market is not sided with Apple this time, as Apple wants this new Nano-SIM design to improve their iPhone series design with wasting any extra space for the SIM cards in the iPhone model.

Last year, Cupertino Company submitted the new Nano-SIM card designs to the European Telecoms Standards Body for the approval of use these smaller SIM cards in mobile phones. But since the Apple has submitted the designs for the nano-SIM cards it appears that its biggest rival’s Android maker-Google, RIM, and Nokia of Finland become an opposing group to the Apple’s idea, and started defending the approval of this Nano-SIM card design.

According to the reports, European Telecoms Standards Institute is about to announce their final decision over the new nano-SIM card design approval, and therefore to get all partner’s approval for the new design, they got votes system on board to choose what to do with the Apple’s request. It is reported that Apple has backed with couple of European Carriers on the new Nano-SIM card design but still Apple stays behind the Nokia, which have around 92 votes over the board with opposing decision to Apple, while it is reported that Apple has not yet entered in the market with full support, but it is expected that If Apple enters, the company will surely win the approval of the usage of new nano-SIM card in the new-generation devices.

Password Saved, Indian Microsoft Store Hacked

by Absar Abdul Rahman - on Feb 13th 2012 - No Comments

After Sony, It’s Microsoft. Microsoft’s India store got hacked today by some Chinese team “Evil Shadow Team” but I can say either the hacker is brave or mad. I think he is brace he published the image in which the email address is provided and when you will search it on Facebook you will get him out.

0x.oday@gmail.com

WPSauce claimed that the hacker got the password saved in the plain text. After the hacking went live, Microsoft took over the server and now its offline. The file which uploaded on the server was ‘evil.html’ which shows “Unsafe system will be baptized”. The password got saved by the hackers and were shown by HackTeach afterwards.

There was no reason prescribed by the hacker.. The last major hack which we saw on air was of the Sony in which the PlayStation Network was hacked and there passwords at that time were saved too. The profile of the hacker is here and for the research thanks to Dheeraj.
