iPhone Beats RIM In Canada, Now RIM Looking For iOS Developers To Safe World

by Hamza Tariq - on Mar 23rd 2012 - No Comments

Apple already outsold many of its biggest rivals in the market with its massive sales growth of the iPhone in the market, and the demand among the users for the next-generation iPhone. Despite, Apple had lost a slightly number of users to Android last year with the introduction of revised design upgraded model in the public, but still the company achieved the World’s Top Mobile Vendor title, and as well as conquered with its one of the biggest rivals to again achieve the title back. Apple had already beaten the RIM in sales many months ago, but still it was reported that RIM topping among the iPhone sales in the home-ground where RIM has its headquarter of all the services.

It is now reported that Apple finally beats the RIM in Canada too, with the massive sales of the iPhone in the zone, and outsold the RIM in its home-ground. We have seen many big industries left out the RIM’s Blackberry’s and favored for the new generation sleek looking iPhone devices. Many industry users don’t like the BlackBerry phones to use, and want to get their hands on the iPhone, and therefore, many companies have planned to drop down the RIM’s Blackberry and adopt the iPhone devices for their company workers.

RIM had been ruling the mobile industry from years with its exclusive smartphone devices and the corporate services to the industry for their workers, and provides the push email notifications, including private messaging network, that helps them to be updated with the latest announcements across the company, but lately it is reported that Apple has also launched the similar service to come over the RIM’s exclusive feature, and offers the same feature to the users with its iMessages on the iOS devices.

In back 2007, RIM was the only king present in the smartphone industry, but later when Apple launched its iPhone in the market, and shortly after Google joined the party with Android in the industry, RIM lost many valuable users to both of these companies, and now day by day losing its customers to the world’s top mobile Vendor Company Apple.

On the other hand, after admission of defeat from Apple, RIM is now reportedly advertising on its LinkedIN profile for an iOS developer with solid skills on the iOS platform to build some corporate applications for the Canadian based company to enter in the iOS platform. The advertisement didn’t reveal the deeper thoughts regarding the RIM’s move of joining the iOS platform, and looking for the iOS developer to build some applications.

We believe that RIM is now looking forward to bringing its exclusive services to cross platforms, and starting from the iOS, like all the other rivals launching their applications in the App Store. In the past, it was reported that RIM is looking forward to porting its BBM network application for the iOS devices, to provide Blackberry existing users to be in contact with the friends, and buddies moved on to the Apple’s iPhone.

Indonesian Government: BBM And BIS To Get Shutdown In Indonesia

by Daudi - on Dec 13th 2011 - No Comments

The Indonesian Government is looking forward to shut down BlackBerry Messenger and BlackBerry Internet Services in the country. The reason is said to be the change in plans by RIM (Research In Motion) to install the BlackBerry servers in Singapore, rather than installing them in Indonesia.

A member of the Indonesian Telecommunication Regulatory Authority BRTI told The Jakarta Post regarding the government threat that:

“Because RIM has not been cooperative, it is possible that we will soon end BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) and BBM service,”

RIM told Indonesian government that it would install a “server” or “a data center” in Indonesia. This was one of the four promises made by RIM with the government of Indonesia. The completion of “server” or “a data center” was said to be completed by 31st December 2011, The Jakarta Post Explained. RIM and Indonesian government had an agreement in September regarding the Server installation. The place for the server was not yet decided. The government wanted to make Indonesia as a priority because it is another  home for Rim’s Device, BlackBerry. Indonesia is one of the biggest country in Southeast Asia where we can find numerous people carrying BlackBerry.

BlackBerry is the part of Indonesian peoples daily life and they use BlackBerry to their all the business dealings. In another words, we can say that BlackBerry is used by people of Indonesia to run their Businesses and access their community. Due to this the government needs to keep an eye on its users and wants to make sure that the data, information, and every detail exchanged between the people are secure and in safe hands. Currently all the data exchanged by BlackBerry BIS and BBM is processed in Canada, the home of RIM.

Regarding the issue of data safety and exchange, Heru Sutadi of BRTI said:

“With the condition as it is now, we warn that the country’s users to be cautious about using BlackBerry because the data exchanged is not safe or cannot be guaranteed of its safety”

No doubt that safety for its users is the first step taken by every government of their own respected country. We think that the Indonesian government has taken a great step towards the safety of its people. This is a real threat to RIM because if RIM doesn’t takes any action on time, So it would loose more than Million of customers.

RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook Rooting Tool Released (Download)

by Daudi - on Dec 7th 2011 - No Comments

Few days back we reported you about the news that RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook got rooted and RIM launched some sort of investigation. The hackers claimed that they found a bug in PlayBook which led to allow them to hack into its Root and do some fun. So RIM must be busy in finding the exploit, where as the hackers have released the tool to Root BlackBerry’s, PlayBook.

The tool is called Dingleberry.

Those who got BlackBerry playbook can now enjoy Rooting their PlayBook.  The hacker’s team Neuralic posted a complete method on how can one do this method and enjoy rooting.

How to get the Android Market working on the BlackBerry PlayBook:

1. Install the 2.0 beta on your playbook.

2. Root your playbook using the dingleberry tool found at dingleberry.it

3. Download the google apps package from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Latest_Version/Google_Apps

4. Install and launch an android app packaged as a .bar file in order to set up the android system. I would recommend installing a launcher app of some kind since you will need one to launch the Market and related apps. A bunch can be found at http://playbookbars.com/

5. Log into your playbook as root with an scp client (eg: WinSCP for windows). Copy the system folder in the google apps download to the root of your playbook and merge it with the system folder there.

6. Open up a root ssh shell and remove “/system/app/SetupWizard.apk” (this can by done by typing in “mv /system/app/SetupWizard.apk /system/app/SetupWizard.apk.bak”.

7. Kill the running android player “cd /apps/sys.android.XXXX.ns/native/scripts” (XXXX will be different for each device) and run “./android-player-cmd.sh kill-android-core.sh”

8. Launch a launcher app of some kind. Start up Android Market (or any other google app), enter your account details and it will start working. This trick will also install google chat and a few other goodies. The Android Market works and will install things after you do this.

9. Play around with the Android player and find other cool things!

Other notes:

- Messing with the Android Player causes stuff to break quite often! If you edit the wrong files, you will probably have to restore your device. You shouldn’t be able to do any permanent damage, but make sure to backup before playing with anything. I take no responsibility for damage to your device.

- The above steps only work for apks installed from the Android Market. For other apks, you can temporarily replace the file “PackageInstaller.apk” in /system/app with the PackageInstaller.app from cyanogenmod. You must restore the original PackageInstaller.apk before the next time that the android player reloads. You can use this method to get apps that update themselves by downloading a .apk file to work (eg: HCL Launcher Updater)

- You can get an “Android Player” launcher app for your playbook by using the script “install-android-player.sh” from the old android beta. This will boot up and let you pick a launcher without opening up a different app afterwards.

If you find anything interesting and want to share it with us, send me (@neuralic) or @xpvqs a message on twitter.

You can download the tool from below for Windows and MAC.

Android, Nokia, BlackBerry Phones Tracking Every Other Information Of User

by Hamza Tariq - on Dec 1st 2011 - No Comments

Since the developers have discovered that iPhone’s logged user’s location information, at least due to a bug. It becomes the really big pain for the users, especially those who not want to disclose their location information. When the developers claimed that iPhone logs the location, we heard from the Steve Jobs that iOS devices does not logs the user activity but android phones doing for sure, at that time we have not more details about his claim and ignored the claim. However, it appears that some hackers around the world started their work on cracking the roots of the different OS’s and now have just discovered that every other smartphone is keeping an eye on you, with special built in tracking software.

It appears that Android, BlackBerry and every Nokia phone, which comes with carriers pre-installed operating system logs your location activity, and sends to the carrier and mobile manufacturer According to the discovery of the 25 years old, Android developer, there is a program in the OS of the device at the root level which logs your every location move, and as well as messages, numbers, every single activity of the user on its devices, and sends out to the mobile manufacturer and carrier. Trevor Eckhart, has discovered that his HTC EVO 4G is quietly tracking key presses, messages or locations. The software which performs all the above-mentioned tasks is said to be made by the Carrier IQ.

After unveiling the software details, it appears Carrier IQ has just brought the developer down to the court and asks for the heavy fine to developer/ hacker. The Carrier IQ system seems to be installed by every other smartphone except the Apple and made it to the root level, and apparently user cannot be able to modify it or safe itself from being tracked by its carrier. The Carrier IQ VP in the interview stated to safe its company:

by Absar Abdul Rahman - on Nov 15th 2011 - No Comments

As Apple’s WWDC there was an event by BlackBerry which is known as the DevCon (Developer’s Conference) on which they loved the BBOS 7 line up and revealed the new BBX instead of BBOS 8.

After this revelation the first leak took place in which all new BlackBerry is shaped up with a 3.7 inch wide touch screen and looks like the Samsung Galaxy SII but also looks like this BlackBerry is too an official Porsche’s recruitment like the BlackBerry’s P’9981.

20111115-004247.jpg

This BlackBerry will be know as the BlackBerry London and its specs are

  • Texas Instrumental’s OMAP Dual Core CPU 1.5 GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage
  • 2 Mega Pixel’s Front Camera
  • 8 Mega Pixel’s Rear Camera

At first it was said to be fake, but The Verge did some thorough testing of this image via Photo Shop. It is possible that this could be some sort of concept design or a prototype and it might not make its way to production.

Like always, the initial news about some un launched or upcoming devices are rumors, so take this one as a rumor also.
