Apple and Samsung are both old competitors with having numbered of issues with each other on infringing the each other products patent in their products. However, both companies have signed dozens of patent cases against each other; especially Apple targeted Samsung’s new Galaxy series into court for identically copying the Apple’s iPhone 3GS design. Apple has already dragged them down into the court to sort the issue, until Samsung did not sort out the issue. In the past couple of months, we have seen dozens of patent cases and claims everyday from Apple against Samsung, and then Samsungs counter attacks to Apple on cases.
Without going into their deep legal battle zone, it is reported by Reuters while profiling the Samsung Electronics designing process in order to clear the Apple’s ongoing battle issue with Samsung over the Galaxy Series. While reporting on the Samsung Design Process for the new-generation devices, Reuters reported that Samsung Mobile’s vice president of design, Lee Minhyouk, joins the party and reveals its thoughts regarding the Apple’s charges against the company, and takes the charge personally with denial statements over the “slavishly copying”:
“I’ve made thousands of sketches and hundreds of prototype products (for the Galaxy). Does that mean I was putting on a mock show for so long, pretending to be designing?”
“As a designer, there’s an issue of dignity. (The Galaxy) is original from the beginning, and I’m the one who made it. It’s a totally different product with a different design language and different technology infused.”
Lee Minhyouk, the VP of Design at Samsung Mobile admits that he may not be the best designer in the world, and doesn’t count itself at the level of Apple’s VP for design, Sir Jonathan Ive, but still he argues that Samsung is not an ordinary company, and according to his believe Samsung “will produce such iconic products one day” (like Apple have in the market).
Samsung is also one of the biggest companies, and the proven to be a biggest rival of Apple in the market with a title of the largest Android smartphone manufacturer. However, on the other hand, Samsung is one of the biggest Apple’s component supplier for the iOS devices, and reportedly whopping more than $9 billion business with Apple every year.
