Medical Researchers Now Can Use iPhone To Detect Cataracts

Last time when we have seen iPhone in the medical field, we found out the with use of some tool users can do mobile ECG with their iPhone and now it is reported that iPhone has again proves it self by revolutionizing the medical field, this time it is reported that with use of some extra portable tool users and researchers can detect cataracts, the leading cause of blindness worldwide.


Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has claimed that they have developed a cheap plastic lens named “Catra” which can attach to the screen of iPhone. They have built a small application which creates a map of cloudy areas that may indicate the onset of cataracts. The process of diagnosing with the Catra Software takes only few minutes and does not require any special training to use it. It is also reported that it can works with iPod touch and other smartphones.
