We all are waiting for the big release of the Apples next Gen iPhone which is said to be iPhone 5 and according tot the rumors the next iPhone will make entry in end of September or first week of October this fall.

Fran Shammo the C.F.O expects the launch of iPhone 5 in June. Speaking at the Oppenheimer & Co. 14th Annual Technology & Communications Conference Shammo said:

“Obviously we’re disappointed that the iPhone 5 didn’t come out in June,” Shammo said, echoing comments made by Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam earlier this summer. “We continue to prepare for it and when that comes we’ll be ready.”

He also added:

“Obviously this will slow our smartphone penetration down from where we thought it would be,” he said. “We [hoped we] would end the year around 50 percent, but that will probably delay that for a quarter to the first quarter of next year to hit that target.”

According the history Apple has always released their new iPhones at WWDC. But this year looks like they have planned up something new. This years WWDC they only announced about the new iOS which is iOS 5 and no words were said on the iPhone 5 release or so. But the leaks suggest that iPone 5 is in production and it is also said that iPhone 5 is given out to carriers for field testing.

Fran Shammo said all this on the basis of the past release. But now we also don’t know about what Apple is up to. We are waiting for some further leaks. We can see a future conference or some kind of event from Apple in coming months which may reveal iPhone 5.

So what are your thoughts about it? Let us know and what do you think about the Fran Shammo statement?
