Hey guys many people out there were facing problems in jailbreaking there iPod 2G MC model with redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze. So I found a way to get rid of them. Follow the simple guide which given below.

Things you will need:

  • Download Sn0wbreeze 2.0.2 from here (Mirror)
  • Download iOS 3.1.2 Firmware from here
  • Download iOS 4.1 from here
  • Download Blackra1n from here

Now here are the steps which you have to follow:-

Step 1: If you are on any firmware greater than 3.1.2 so restore your iPod 2G MC Model to 3.1.2 (this requires SHSH blobs saved).

Step 2: Now you will be done and on 3.1.2 so Jailbreak it with Blackra1n.

Step 3: Launch sn0wbreeze and go to expert mode. And browse the firmware you downloaded. Then select MC model.

  • Then select general.
  • Then check Enable Multi Tasking, Background wallpaper, and battery percentage.
  • Then click next and don’t have to do anything. When you reach on the part of custom boot logos so uncheck the boxes and proceed.
  • * While the firmware is cooking you may get an error of hfsplus.exe has stopped working. So just close the program.
  • Then you will get the same option as before. Now select build IPSW.

And now Sn0wbreeze will start to cook the firmware.

Step 4: The custom firmware which you created from sn0wbreeze will be on your desktop with the name of

Sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 2G-4.1.ipsw.

Now rename that firmware to any name you like.

Step 5: Now this is the tricky part of tutorial. Now again launch sn0wbreeze and follow step 3. But this time you will need to choose MB model not MC model.

Step 6: Once the firmware is cooked and it will be on your desktop. Now open the firmware (sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 2G-4.1.ipsw) you recently cooked, with winrar. Not the one you renamed to XXXX.

Step 7: Then extract MB firmware files to desktop

  • kernelcache.release.n72
  • Firmware/dfu/iBEC.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu

Step 8: Open your custom MC firmware (the one you renamed) with winrar and replace these files by dragging them:

  • kernelcache.release.n72
  • Firmware/dfu/iBEC.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu

Now place the files in correct order.

Kernelcache.release.n72 goes to the top

IBEC.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu goes to

Firmware/dfu/ folder

Now your custom ipsw is ready to restore!

Step 9: First put your device into recovery mode and then open up iBooty from its folder and click prepare device for custom firmware. You should see the logo now on your iPod.

Step 10: Open iTunes and restore to the custom firmware the one you have renamed (be sure to select that one). iTunes should restore without any error this time, not even the famous error 17!

Once restored, you should be at iTunes logo+usb that means tethered jailbreak, and thus you are in recovery mode. Close iTunes.

Launch again iBooty, and this time click on Boot it, now your iPod touch should start booting, you have to see the logo, at this time when iBooty counts down you should be stuck in the logo, don’t worry its normal!

Congrats now you will be successfully Jalbreaked on MC model iPod2g iOS4.1.

Important Note:

The jailbreak will be tethered means each time you reboot your iPod you have to use iBooty to get out of recovery mode.

If you get a success so do comment and share this link. Cause this has been tried on I tunes 10.0.1 and 9.1. It’s working like a charm. So stay tuned for more info and tutorials and guides.
