After the Untethered Jailbreak for all the A4 Devices, many of you happily updated to iOS 5.0.1 while preserving the baseband or doing it normally. Those who relied on an Unlock preserved their baseband and vice versa. After updating to iOS 5.0.1, many of the users on iPhone 4 reportedly lost their notification system and they cannot event activate FaceTime and iMessages on their jailbroken iDevice.
We also came across this issue on iPhone 4 that the iMessages and FaceTime were waiting for activation and found out a fix for this issue on iPhone 4. The problem we figured out was of activation. The activation is not done officially on iPhone 4 which makes this issue arise on your iPhone 4.
We Jailbreak to hacktivate on iOS 5.0.1 due to which we cannot activate iMessages and FaceTime on iPhone 4. The solution is simple. All you need to have is your official sim card of that particular iPhone carrier and you must be near your PC/ MAC.
Steps to Follow:
You must got the official carrier sim card for you iPhone. ( Means, if you got an iPhone 4 from AT&T, so you must got any AT&T SIM Card regardless it is working or not. You only need it to Activate your iPhone through it).
Download Redsn0w 0.9.9.10b3 from here.
After you have downloaded redsn0w from the above link, now connect your iPhone with PC/ MAC and open Redsn0w.
Now navigate to the option of Jailbreak and put your iDevice into DFU mode. Now let it recognize your iDevice.
After the it recognizes your iPhone, then simply move next and over there you will get many options like Jailbreak, Install custom bundles, Enable Multitasking Gestures, and Deactivate.
The check on Install Cydia would be there when you would click next. Just uncheck Cydia and select Deactivate.
Now proceed next. After the process has finished on your iPhone, you will be navigated to the welcome screen of iPhone which is on iOS 5.
Now insert in the official carrier SIM card as told above and activate your iPhone. No data will be lost on your iPhone. It will simply activate your iPhone officially by that particular SIM Card.
If it asks you to set up as new phone or restore from iCloud back up, simply do set up as a new phone.
Once you are officially activated by that SIM, simply insert the (unofficial) SIM card the one you were using and activate iMessages and FaceTime on your iPhone. Now they will work flawlessly.
Note: This method is only for those who are using GEVEY SIM and rely on an Unlock. Those who are Factory Unlocked and don’t need an Unlock should be doing fine with all the stuff.
For those who don’t got the official SIM CARD should wait for another method. We are just waiting for the confirmation from the Developer of SAM and SAM Pref, whether it is compatible with iOS 5 or not. If you know anything about it, so feel free to let us know.
