Exclusive: Fix SMS And No SIM Issues On iPhone 4S Running iOS 5.0.1

Before we proceed on for the real issue, I would like to inform you people that the only Exclusive thing in this article is of SMS issues faced by people on iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1. The NO SIM issue is old and I am covering with this post. So read everything in details before you comment any where. One more thing that the solution for SMS issues for iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1 is no where on the internet. This method has been founded by me. If you would like to spread the word like me, SO kindly like,Share and do give a link back. I could have made bucks out of my findings but I am revealing it for free. So do share this method.

After the release of iPhone 4S, Apple missed out many things to fix in the iPhone 4S. One of the most important thing that Apple missed out was Battery Drainage issues. The issues are persisting form iPhone 4. When iPhone 4S came in the hand of consumers, Apple released an update to address the battery issues in iPhone 4S which was later on said to be not working on iPhone 4S. So Apple is now working to fix the Battery issues in their new update of iOS 5.1. iOS 5.1 beta 2 was released few days back. No new findings, other than few wall papers were added were found in the new Beta.

Soon after the release of iOS 5.1 Beta 2, Apple released iOS 5.0.1(9A406)r2  for iPhone 4S users. The new release was mysterious until we came across the news that, the new build brings NO SIMIssues fixed in it for iPhone 4S users. From Apple’s new support document:

In certain situations, iPhone 4S may have difficulty recognizing a micro-SIM card, resulting in the following behaviors:

– “Invalid SIM” or “No SIM Card installed” alert appears intermittently.
– Status bar displays “No Service” or “Searching” in a location with good network coverage.

Now lets first see the method to resolve the NO SIM issue on iPhone 4S. Follow the steps Below in order to fix the issue.

Steps to Follow:

Step 1:

Backup your iDevice via iTunes and save all your important data.

Step 2:

Download iOS 5.0.1 (9A406) from here.

Step 3:

Now connect your Device and open iTunes. Once the iTunes is opened, do a custom update. Press Shift+Update (option+shift for MAC OS X users) and browse for the IPSW you downloaded.

Step 4:

Choose that IPSW and update to it. After you have chosen the IPSW, the update process will start and your device will be on iOS 5.0.1 with NO SIM issues fixed.

After your NO SIM issues afre fixed, you are good to go and just wait for the Jailbreak for iPhone 4S which in works.

Now those of who you are/ were getting SMS issues on iPhone 4S can proceed further to do another step. The solution is really simple and it was founded by me after many hours of search in the iPhone 4S and iPhone 4. The issues that iPhone 4S people are facing is that they cannot send an SMS to any one. The issue is most popular in Pakistan and might be in some other countries as well.

I came across this issue on more than one iPhone 4S. I tried restoring and doing everything but still the issues were there regarding SMS on iPhone 4S. So if you are one of those facing SMS issues on iPhone 4S and need to resolve them for free of cost and it doesn’t requires any hard knowledge or skills, pc or mac.

So feel free to follow the guide below:

Steps to follow:

Step 1:

The main issues is that SMS are failed while sending. It doesn’t matters if you try again or not. The SMS won’t go You can reset the network settings and try anything you want to. The issue will persist.

Step 2:

Now the findings made by me were that the issues are not with the firmware or your network. Everything is fine. The only problem is My Number.

The “My Number” on your iPhone 4S is the main issue that causes the SMS failure. As you can see that “My Number” got 00 00 which is not supported by the iPhone 4S.

Step 3:

Now to solve this issue on iPhone 4S, simply edit the My Number section wit your own number. Like I have done it.

If you cannot edit “My Number”, then do a fresh restore on iOS 5.0.1 and try again. The restore will allow you to edit the My Number Section.

Step 4:

Now you are all done and no need to do any hard work or any further steps. Simply resend the SMS and this time it will work.

Thats it. now you are done free to SMS. Your SMS issue is solved now.

Some times the iPhone 4S auto detects “My Number” and sometimes it fails to detect your number. The issue is found mostly in iPhone 4S, where as iPhone 4 works like a charm and got no issues of SMS or so.

If you think that I am wrong regarding this SMS solution, So delete the number from “My Number” from iPhone 4S and try to send an SMS. It will be failed. Do comment below if you like my findings and do share with other people to support me and to help them to fix the issue.
