The day before we had a great day. We got the long waited Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Special thanks goes to the Dream team members and @Pod2g for making all this possible. When the Untethered Jailbreak was released, it was only for MAC OS X users for now.
The tool, Absinthe, website was over loaded after the release was made public of the Untethered Jailbreak of iPhone 4S and iPad 2. So, today morning the Dev-Team released the new version of the Untethered Jailbreak called CLI (Command Line Interface) that is a manual method to perform the Untethered Jailbreak on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 via MAC OS X terminal command line.
Those of you have used it knows better about the usage of it. To use the CLI is not easy as ABC but it requires some skills to use them in Terminal on MAC OS X.
Till now the CLI was only usuable for MAC OS X, but few minutes back, @MuscleNerd Tweeted to see the update # 3 which includes the CLI for Windows also. This means that the Windows users waiting for the Untethered jailbreak tool can use this CLI versin and get the Untethered Jailbreak on their iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
The OS X version of the CLI mentioned in the post can be downloaded here. It’s primarily to help us debug specific issues, but tinkerers might like to play around with some of its advanced options! More info is here.
- Version 0.4.3 adds support for Windows users. It also makes the “-j” jailbreak option much more functional See the README.txt for usage.
Till now there is no specific guide on how to perform this Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on Windows. The method is still strange and risky, so we would suggest you to stay away from this method. We will try our level best to post up an easy tutorial for you people on this CLI, so you can use it with your iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
