Apple has recently rumored about preparing an 8GB iPad 2 along with the newer iPad 3 models which will probably be launching on the media event that going to be happen on March 7th. In a typical form, Apple always reduce the cost of the older devices, with the additional model to the device with lower-end hardware capabilities, exactly as they have done with iPhone series in the past with the introduction of 8GB iPhone model.

Apple is recently reported to be preparing a 8GB iPad 2 model along with the new iPad 3 models, the report comes from the sometime-reliable Apple rumor source DigiTimes. The introduction of new low-cost old-generation device is old, and Apple has already applied this strategy on the iPhone series by discontinuation of the 16 GB and 32 GB models of the devices. However, the sources over DigiTimes also believe that Apple is about to make some changes in the upcoming iPad 3 model sizes.

DigiTimes sources reported that Apple is only looking to introduce newer iPad 3 into only 16 GB and 32 GB models, and there are no words on the arrival of 64 GB iPad 3 model, or as well as on the 128 GB iPad 3 model that was recently rumored to be launching this year. Many users are hoping for the 128 GB model of iPad 3, as the device is rumored to be getting a higher-resolution Retina Display to power much graphics on the tablet. Retina Display is expected to carry a 2048×1536 pixels resolution. However, we believe that this step from Apple will disturb the users a lot, because with the introduction of newer higher resolution device users are expecting to get some extra huge memory device, to contain more apps and video content on the device.

Apple is expected to process the availability of 16 GB iPad 2 at a price point of $399 or even lower, but a move to 8 GB would give Apple even more room to shift lower on pricing.
