It appears that Apple has been working closely with suppliers on the display screen shipments and the sizes of the screen. In these days, we are hearing that Apple has been testing a wide range of display screen sizes for the iPad 3 or iPad Mini. According to the report from Japanese blog Macotakara, in addition to the iPad Mini display panels, Apple has also begun receiving shipments of the 4-inch display screens for the next-generation iPhone.

Macotakara claims that Sony Mobile Display Corporation (SMDC) and Hitatchi Displays has begun the 4-inch LCD display shipments to Apple for the new iOS device, the site has yet to offer the more detail regarding the “new iOS device”.

According to Asian source, Hitachi Displays, Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation started to ship 4-inch LCD for new iOS device and LCD for iPad 3. These 2 companies will be merged their business with Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd., as “Japan Display” in 2012 spring.

The report from the Japanese blog has yet to leak any iOS device name or specify, which iOS device that the screens would be used for. However, by looking into past we can easily consider the new device as the new iPhone. As we all have heard the couple of times from the sources that Apple may bake its new iPhone with 4-inch display. So far, Apple has only used a 3.5″ display across its iPhone line, and there have been arguments that 3.5″ may be the ideal size for one-handed use.
