Apple Releases Firmware 4.4.2 To Fix Apple TV Issues

After releasing the iOS 5 to all iOS devices, Apple releases a firmware update to the Apple TV to include many of the latest available features around the other iOS devices. Apple had released the Apple TV firmware version 4.4, to add the numerous new features of iOS to the set-top box, including the feature of Photo Stream, NHL, AirPlay Mirroring for the support of iPhone 4S and the Wall Street Journal content. And as usual, the update comes up with a lot of bugs, which cause problems to many users and the update temporarily bricked their devices, which Apple solved the problem with a quick update to the Apple TV firmware but still the many users reported that have been facing issues after updating to the new firmware since last week.

Apple TV 4.4.2

After facing all the problems with Apple TV users, finally they released tonight again with a minor update to the firmware 4.4.2 to fix hopefully all the highlighted bugs from the firmware, and Apple also details some of the issues in a new support document regarding the release of new firmware to the Apple TV users.

Apple TV devices with software version 4.4 and 4.4.1 have an issue with updating software to later versions. The recommended way to resolve this is go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings, prior to updating. Note: If you apply the software update without resetting all settings first, the updater will reset the settings for you.

Once the Apple TV has been reset, you can then successfully update to the latest software by going to Settings -> General -> Update Software.

We recognize that this is an inconvenience and apologize.

So if you are one of those who have been facing the issues with your Apple’s TV set-top box after updating it to 4.4.X new firmware, take a look into a new support document and download the new firmware update for your device to get it back hopefully in the working condition. Apple TV firmware version 4.4.2 allows you to enjoy the Photo Stream, and Airplay Miring with set-top box.
