It seems that Apple in look for AMOLED display screens for its next generation iPad, not iPad 2. The report came from The Korea Herald claims that Apple COO, temporary CEO of Apple Tim Cook has reached Samsung in recent visit of South Korea. Tim has discussed a bit with Samsung on the implementation of AMOLED display in next generation iPad which is dubbed as a iPad 3, claimed by sources of Korea Herald.

Apple wants to tap into Samsung’s AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad 2, considered as many by the iPad 3 that is likely to be launched toward the end of this year,” a source told The Korea Herald on Wednesday on condition of anonymity.

Tim Cook is not only the COO, but also acting CEO of Apple. During Cook’s trip last week, Apple seems to have offered Samsung an advance for the AMOLED displays, the source said.

It is not a first time we are hearing that Apple in look of AMOLED display screens for its product, in 2009 several reports hit the web which claims that Apple may implement AMOLED display in iPhone 3GS, but it couldn’t happen because of the time frame, production capacity, high costs. The Korea Herald is also claiming Apple is considering a major shift in the technology being used and an early launch later this year. We have also a reason to believe on this news, because Apple face backlight issue on their iPad 2 display screens which was supplied and developed by LG, so now company in search of new screen provider.
