The long going war between Apple and Nokia seems to settle down regarding patents of mobile phone technology. As a part of the agreement of settle downing this issue, Apple has to pay Nokia with one-time payment and will continue to pay Nokia for use of their patents in own products. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop:

We are very pleased to have Apple join the growing number of Nokia licensees, said Stephen Elop, president and chief executive officer of Nokia. This settlement demonstrates Nokia’s industry leading patent portfolio and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities in the mobile communications market

The patent is related to the use of technology used by Apple for enhanced Speech and data transmission, antenna configurations which dramatically improved the performance of their devices. According to the Nokia’s lawsuit filed back in May 2010.
